About Greg... in his own words
My family and I live in Owen County.
My wife, Jessie, and I have two little girls, Haley
who will soon be five and Madilynn, who is three months old.
My interest and love of racing began when I was very little and raced my big wheel down the driveway.
My family spent a lot of time at the local dirt tracks since my Dad raced a Street Stock. At the age of six, I had my first racing win in a bicycle race sponsored by Bloomington Speedway. My bicycle racing was fairly successful for the next several years at Bloomington and Sweet Owen Raceway.(See Picture #1to the right "Bicycle race winner")
When I was ten and in the fifth grade, my Dad, Don, bought and put together a go-kart for me to race at Boggs Lake in Loogootee, Indiana( Pic #3 Greg- go-kart).
Later that year my sister, Tami Lawson(16t), shared my go-kart. We were both competitive at the track. The following year, my Dad and I built two go-karts so Tami and I would each have our own. We raced with some of the same guys we race with now, like Clint (78c) and John (79D) DeMoss, my Brother-in-law, David Lawson (35), Jesse Cramer (12T), Danny Harris (19) and Rodney Harris Jr. (9H) (Pic #2 Go-kart winners with John & Clint Demoss).
While in high school, some buddies and I built some Derby cars, which I drove in the Demolition Derbies at the Monroe County Fair.
I had my first Super Stock car at Bloomington speedway in 1998 (Pic 4 First car).
I sat out a couple of years and then in 2002, I started racing all season every year. Since that time, my Dad and I have built the cars that I race.
Racing is like a full-time job. It takes a lot of man-hours in the garage to keep them fine-tuned and ready to go.
In 2006, I put together 3 different bodies during the season (#0929 body #1, 0954 body #2, & 0973 body #3).
Greg states, "I’ve heard racing referred to, mostly by racing wives, as a “home-wreaker”. I try to make my racing a family event that we can all enjoy. "
My wife helps out a lot in the garage and Haley is
already making some impressive moves in her Power Wheels car. Of
course, they are all there, on the hill, every time I’m on
the track.
My wife videotapes the races I compete in and we later watch them together to get information on driving strategy and technique or adjustments needed on the car itself.

My Dad is my pit crew chief at most every race and Tami helps me when she isn’t racing herself. I especially like the idea that this is something that my Dad and I can do together
Some of my buddies from school have helped me work on my cars and also helped in the pits. I am the chief mechanic for both my car and my sister’s car.
In 2007, Tami and I both won the Jeff Gordon Rookie of the Year Award in our respective classes. (Pic#5 on the left -Tami & Greg Rookie winner picture)
