| Clanton Finishes The Job In Thursday Night’s Finale Of Fifth Annual ‘Scorcher’ Presented By Alltel Wireless At Volunteer Speedway | ||
- Submitted by Kevin Kovac BULLS GAP, TN – Aug. 21, 2008 – Shane Clanton wasn’t about to suffer the same fate twice. Twenty-four hours after having a victory slip through his fingers thanks to some problems with lapped traffic, Clanton made all the right moves on Thursday night to capture the 60-lap World of Outlaws Late Model Series A-Main that closed the fifth annual ‘Scorcher’ presented by Alltel Wireless at Volunteer Speedway. Clanton, 32, of Locust Grove, Ga., slipped by Chris Madden of Gaffney, S.C., to take the lead on lap 19 and never looked back. He repelled several challenges from Madden and survived some hairy moments racing with slower cars to post his second WoO LMS triumph of the 2008 season. -> Read More |

![]() |
- Submitted by Tony Veneziano Edmonton, AB— August 21, 2008— Paul McMahan had one of the fastest cars last season in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series inaugural events at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He put his name in the records books as the first driver to stop the clocks first in time trials on the opening night of the event and was second quick in the finale. If not for a flat tire in with just two laps to go in the second heat race on the second night of the inaugural Oil City Cup, while running in a transfer position that would have earned him a spot in the Crane Cams Dash. McMahan would have probably started toward the front of the A-Feature event and been in contention for a victory.->Read More |

- Submitted by Tim McKinney DARLAND WINS SPRINT BANDITS TOUR IN TOPLESS SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP Depending on who you're talking to, a number of series will get the nod as being the most grueling in open wheel racing. And the honest truth is that they all have some validity. Some would certainly claim that the Chili Bowl held each January in Tulsa, Okla. is the toughest because it has something over two hundred competitors including the beat from many different kinds of race cars. However, it has to lose points; because all of the races are held on the same track; and the competitors will race on only two days. -> Read More |

CUMMINGS WINS TIRE & WHEEL CENTER SUPER STOCK SHELBY MILES TAKES O'NEAL WOOD PRODUCTS MODIFIED FEATURE BLOOMINGTON, IN (August 16, 2008) - Last night the fans who showed up at Bloomington Speedway were treated to one of the nicest racing evenings of the season. The top racers in all three divisions were on hand to protect their position in the points as well as to race for the extra prize money that was available for the feature winners in this "Bonus Night" program.
The points races going into last night?s racing were all pretty tight; and none of the guys who were at the top of the points standing wanted to concede anything to their fellow racers. If you plan to take anything from the guys who set atop their points standings, you had better bring your top game; because you?re going to need it. -> Read More |
