Recap: FASTRAK at Eldora, 'HUGE hit' as Dixon takes win #601

- by Fastrak PR

(Aug. 15) There are those weekends in racing when things just seem to go right. The ‘GM Performance Parts 40’ was definitely one of those weekends as the event was held in front of a tremendous crowd at Eldora Speedway. Forty nine cars were on hand to take their shot of winning at the ‘famed’ Eldora Speedway”.

So many things were taking place that Saturday and all working in harmony very well. Ed Dixon #50 had just won his 600 victory the night before and he also took the victory at Eldora making in win 601. Dixon of Washington MO was excited in victory lane after the event. “Man this was an incredible weekend” said Dixon. “Win number 600 last night and then to come here and get win 601 at Eldora! How much better does it get? I tell you something, racing these guys is tough. These FASTRAK teams are the best in the country in this crate engine late model racing. Any one of ten teams at the very least could have won this race tonight. Our car was good and we had some good luck as well. I just-> Read More

Georgia's Clanton & Smith Look To Extend World of Outlaws Late Model Series Success In Homestate To Screven Motor Speedway On Saturday (Aug. 16)

- by Kevin Kovac

(Aug. 14) SYLVANIA, GA – Aug. 14, 2008 – If history is any indicator, then this Saturday night (Aug. 16) Shane Clanton or Clint Smith should win the first-ever World of Outlaws Late Model Series A-Main at Screven Motor Speedway.

The three-eighths-mile oval is located, after all, in Georgia – and the two WoO LMS regulars from the Peach State have combined to capture all three tour events previously held in their homestate.

Yes, Clanton and Smith have defended their territory well when they get the rare opportunity to run a WoO LMS show in their backyard. Clanton was victorious in Georgia WoO LMS A-Mains on May 1, 2004, at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth and Oct. 26, 2005, at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, and Smith was best in a season-opening program on Feb. 4, 2006, at Golden Isles. -> Read More

Chico’s Papenhausen Pumped For Saturday Night’s Inaugural Western Allstars DIRTcar Late Model Series Event At His Hometown Silver Dollar Speedway

(Aug. 13) - Chris Dolack, VP Media/PR
- Kevin Kovac, DIRTcar Racing PR

CHICO, CA – Aug. 13, 2008 – No one is more excited about the first-ever Western Allstars DIRTcar Late Model Series event at Silver Dollar Speedway this Saturday night (Aug. 16) than Richard Papenhausen.

A resident of Chico, Calif., Papenhausen is relishing the rare opportunity to run his dirt Late Model in actual competition at his hometown track.

Saturday night’s 30-lap, $3,000-to-win A-Main for the region’s premier dirt Late Model tour will mark the full-fender division’s first action in nearly a decade at John Padjen’s Silver Dollar Speedway, a high-banked, quarter-mile oval that’s known as a haven of 410 Sprint Car racing.

“It’s great to have Late Models back at Chico,” said Papenhausen, a 42-year-old veteran racer who is a regular in Silver Dollar’s dirt Modified class on Friday nights. “I’ve hot-lapped my Late Model there like three or four times this year, but that’s not the same as racing it. I can’t wait to get out there (on Saturday night). -> Read More

O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Cancels Sanction of Hall of Fame Classic at Brownstown

Louisville, KY-August 11, 2008- The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Models sanction of the 4th Annual Hall of Fame Classic at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN has been cancelled due to the track promoter wanting the series to alter the tire rule for this event.

An altered tire rule was experimented with at the last series event at the track back in June, which resulted in a lower car count at that event than at the event that was contested back in May which utilized the Battle of the Bluegrass Series tire rule. -> Read More

BOESPFLUG CALLS IT QUITS

Chad Boespflug

- TIm McKinney

Chad Boespflug of North Vernon grew up in Hanford, Calif.; and he never wanted to be anything but a race driver. He was blessed with natural talent and supportive parents and grandparents who were willing to do everything within their power to help Chad realize his dreams.

Chad got a good start in California; and he displayed enough talent to convince his grandparents as well as himself that he could be a star. His grandfather, Bob Gatten, relocated his business in North Vernon. He also purchased a new home with a large shop on the grounds as well as the race cars, engines, tools, and spare parts to fill it.

Last season Chad took a bad ride that adversely effected his eyesight temporarily. He seemed to be fully recovered; and this season he was running much more competitively.-> Read More on LuRacing.com

PUTNAMVILLE — For three weeks, sprint car drivers had attempted to find a winning combination to end Dickie Gaines’ domination at Lincoln Park Speedway.
On Saturday night, Billy Puterbaugh finally came across the right formula, adding equal parts lead foot with a lack of brakes to edge Gaines for a victory.
Puterbaugh was able to overtake Gaines in traffic late in the race and was able to hold off the veteran over the final laps despite losing his brakes down the
stretch. The win extends his points’ lead to 48 over Shane Hollingsworth, who was not at LPS on Saturday night.

One driver who did have the fans buzzing with his arrival was Cory ‘the Kruser’ Kruseman, who brought his team with him to the Putnamville oval. The
Ventura, California native and multiple Indiana Sprint Week champion was making his first 2008 trip to Lincoln Park Speedway.

Darland wins at Lawrenceburg!

29 Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint Cars were on hand on Saturday August 9th. Four 8-lap heat races would set up the all but four of the 25 lap feature field. The other 4 spots would be determined in one 10-lap B-main. Heat race winners were Jeff Bland Jr, Logan Hupp, Joss Moffatt, and Caleb Armstrong. Bobby Stines took the checkered flag in the lone B-main. The feature field went green with Jeff Bland Jr. as the pole sitter. He was able to jump out to a quick lead. Behind Bland, t he fans were treated with some great racing behind the leader as they watched several Sprinters coming to the front. Dave Darland started midpack and was finding the high side the quickest way around the Burg. Darland and the 2007 Lawrenceburg Speedway Rookie of the year, Ricky Williams put on a great show swapping positions back and forth. Darland was eventually able to clear Williams and take over the runner up spot. -> Read More

Horton wins for 3rd feature at Lawrenceburg in 2008

22 AMSA mini-sprints were on hand on Saturday August 9th. The mini-sprints were divided in to three 8-lap heat races. Beau Stewart, Dustin Hueston and Hud Horton each won their heat races. Dustin Hueston would start on the pole with Hud Horton lining up behind him in row 2 for the 20 lap feature. It was no surprise to see the race come down to two drivers. Series point leader Dustin Hueston and Hud Horton pulled away from the rest of the field with Hueston showing the way. As they began to lap some of the slower mini-sprints, Hueston's lead was evaporating. Horton waited for the right opportunity and passed Hueston for the lead after Hueston got caught behind a slower car. Horton would pull away a n d win for the 3rd time in 2008 at Lawrenceburg. Dustin Hueston, Beau Stewart, Scott Fasse, and Greg Nicholas rounded out the top 5. The AMSA mini-sprints return to The Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday August 30th.
