Overview of Dirt Scoops

Get ready for something new, something different from the norm of covering the "Big Guys" only. This site was created for Area race fans, drivers, promoters and surrounding area tracks to pass on racing information, share racing success stories, events, and general racing information. We promote the "Little Guy". We are ALL ABOUT getting to know our local area drivers, area tracks, fans, officials and promoters. Dare Night at Moler Raceway July 11

On July 11th, the staff of Moler Raceway Park welcomed a large crowd to DARE Night. Kids in attendance received a goodie bag compliments of Highland County DARE Officer Bobby Stroop and Rick Wilkin of Lynchburg, Ohio displayed his DARE Sherriff for Kids drag car. More than 42 kids participated in the MRP Foot races, with Jacob Streble, Michael Norris and Zach Vangoose taking the top honors in their age group. -> Read More

Volunteer Speedway, who's in the news this week?
Jeff Maupin of Greeneville, Tenn., is all smiles in victory lane Saturday night at Volunteer Speedway following his first Super Late Model victory of the season. It was a great night for the driver nicknamed "Showtime," as Maupin swept the late model action at the track, winning both the Super Late Model and Crate Late Model features by leading each flag-to-flag.

Jeff "Showtime" Maupin (No. 0) of Greeneville and Vic "The Thrill" Hill (No. 1) of Morristown battle for the lead racing off turn two during the Super Late Model feature Saturday night at Volunteer Speedway. Maupin would capture his first victory of the season, while Hill finished in the runner-up position.

Stanley Donahoo (No. 00) of White Pine, Tenn., battles side-by-side with Jerry Broyles (No. 72) of Jonesborough, Tenn., for the lead late in the 20-lap IMCA Open Wheel Modified feature Saturday night at Volunteer Speedway. Donahoo held on to narrowly edge out Broyles for his second victory of the season.

Hines continues winning ways, by making it feature number 12 for 2008 at Brownstown Speedway July 12

 

Jeremy Hines won another checkered flag on Saturday, July 12 at Brownstown. Other winners of the night include: Chevy Goodman - Mini Stock Winner, Doug May - Hornet Winner, and Bub Cummings - Bomber Winner.The weather won over the rest of the evening.

Nothing "Short" about Short's win at Lawrenceburg!

 

Chevy Powers Indiana Sprint Week night #2 presented by Fatheadz and Watson Gravel picked up right where night #1 left off. 48 drivers registered back in
the pit area. Each driver was hoping to be standing in victory lane when the checkered flag fell at the end of the night. Qualifying was up first on the night, and Dave Darland set quick time with a lap of 13.319. The top 32 were locked into heat racing action.

16 AMSA mini-sprints raced as the support class for opening night of the USAC
Indiana Sprint Week. Two 8- lap heat races were run and were won by Hud Horton

Lawrenceburg News; Nothing Bland about Bland's first Win!
Opening night of the 2008 Chevy Powers USAC Indiana Sprint Week was filled with excitement, as 48 USAC cars and stars took to the newly configured 3/8 mile Lawrenceburg Speedway. 32 cars were locked into to heat racing action after
qualifying with Levi Jones driving the Tony Stewart Racing Sprint Car to quick time and a new track record with a lap of 12.926.

Thunder Valley Raceway Winners, July 11

In winners row were Late Model Feature winner (#13) Barry Doss, Modified Feature Winner, (#7) Doug Adkins, Purestock Feature Winner, #75 Derrick Davis, Chevette Feature Winner, (#80) Miles Tarvin, and Mini-Sprint Feature Winner (#47) Gary Loney.

Farmer City Winners July 11

Donny Walden (#1W) was victorious in the late model feature, Chad Evans (#59) took the Modified Feature dheckered flag July 11 at Farmer City. Other winners include: Joel Funk (#23JR) in the sportsman class, Mike Pickering (#99) in the street stock class, and Kyle Taylor (#T75) in the hornet class.

Maupin sweeps Late Model action at Volunteer Speedway

BULLS GAP, Tenn. (July 12)

Before a packed grandstand Saturday at Volunteer Speedway on July 12, K&R Construction and Electric Night at the Races and with over 100 total cars in the pits, Jeff Maupin of Greeneville captured both the Gateway Ford Super Late Model and Courtesy Chevrolet Crate Late Model feature victories. Maupin won both events in convincing fashion, setting fast-time and earning the pole position for each race, while also leading from green-to-checkered in both features.
