Last year, Dirt Scoops did a showcase on
April Farmer, who drives a Super Late Model. I thought
I would check up on here progress and update her showcase.
In 2008, April had several top 10's through out the season.
She is still at it and fans can keep up with her progress
by visiting her website at: http://www.aprilfarmer.com/home.html
The previous interview:
A thought from Dirt Scoops: When I got this
information for an interview, I was really excited because
this is the second female driver I have had the pleasure
of adding to Dirt Scoops, but what really topped it off,
was the fact that this lady drove a 'super late model'.
I thought, wow, she has to have some guts to do this!
After learning about April, I realized she wasn't a stranger
to racing. I look forward to following her career and
hope she continues to do well. So far, she is doing pretty
good for herself! And, now, I want to share her information
with you...

Dirt Scoops: Tell us how
you got interested in racing:
April: "I started
racing atv's when I was 3 years old and I have over 100
wins. I moved up to mini stocks when I was 15 and won
1 feature and 3rd in the championship the first season.
I had several wins and top 5 finished in that division
then I moved up to late models at the age of 18."
Dirt Scoops: Tell us about your family:
April: "I married
my high school sweetheart, Chris, seven years ago and
he is my crew chief. I have a three year old daughter
named, Brianna and a nine month old daughter, Brailee.
We have a miniature pomeranian, Katie and a golden retriever,
Lilly. I have a brother that races late models also."

Dirt Scoops: List your career high lights:
April: "3rd in
points championship at Crossville Raceway, 5th in pts.
championship at Tennessee Motor Speedway, numerous wins
in atv racing , mini stocks, and late models."
Dirt Scoops: Which one of your races stands
out the most in your mind and why:
April: "Of course
it would be my first win in the mini stock division and
almost being the first woman to make it in a World of
Outlaw feature until I got put in the wall and breaking
my arm."

A "young" April above, showing even at this
age she would take the checkered flag!
Dirt Scoops: We all know it takes more than
one person to be successful in racing, who do you feel
contributes to your career success?
April: "My husband
and I maintain the cars and equipment and my parents are
the sole supporters financially."
"As
a family, we all work really hard to keep everything professional
and a top competitor."

Dirt Scoops: What tracks do you race at?
April: "I race
all over Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama,Virginia, North Carolina,
Kentucky, Ohio, and South Carolina."
Dirt Scoops: List your sponsors:

Cooper Recycling, Livingston Limestone, Dale Lumber Company,
GW Performance, Ohlins , Bell, Delph Communications, Simpson,

Dirt Scoops: Any special events or news
for the upcoming season you would like to share with your
fans?
April: "I am
following the Advance auto parts thunder series and currently
leading the rookie of the year points and llth overall".
Dirt Scoops: What advice would you pass on to a rookie
driver?
April: "My advice to rookie
drivers is to work hard and follow your dreams. I would
also say get
an education first before jumping into the seat full time.
I graduated college with an education degree so I am very
partial toward that. 15 years ago, I would have never
thought that I would be racing with legendary drivers
like Dale Mcdowell, Ray Cook, Rick Eckert, Ronnie Johnson,
etc."
Dirt Scoops: Do you have a website so fans can keep up
on your progress? If so, what is the url?
